Why use a mobile service?
As a mobile groomer, I show up at your residence (or place of business, if you desire), and groom your pet to your specifications right there. They are not cage dried, but dried on the grooming table after their bath. The dog is being cared for right where he lives, and there is no hassle of you having to get your pet into the car, then driving to a grooming salon, and then waiting for them to call you to let you know they are finished. When I am finished, I just bring your dog right up to your door.
Why are fees for mobile groomers more than the local grooming salons?
This service is specialized. We come to you, taking the hassle and cost out of you having to go back and forth to the local salon. The dogs are not separated from their homes, meaning less emotional stress on them. They receive individualized attention, with natural products. Depending on what is required, their time in the mobile will be less than their time in the salon. And we bring them right back to your front door. At this time, we only accept cash and checks. In the future, credit cards might be added.
Where do you get your water and electricity?
Our trailer is fully self contained. We have a clean water tank, and a dirty water tank. The generator or landline we use will run all electrical appliances, and even the hot water heater. This is a fully functional trailer, with a bath, hydraulic table, standing dryer, and plenty of space to work in.
What about my dog’s vaccinations?
We would like you to let us know or show us proof that your dog is up to date on his vaccinations upon our first visit. This is a safety issue, for both your pet and for me.
What about cancellations?
We require a 24 hour notice that you intend to cancel your appointment. A No-Show fee of $30.00 per pet will be assessed. This is because we groom a limited number of dogs per day. Any no-show is a pet I can’t groom, and we generally don’t do immediate requests due to our scheduling.
What about older dogs?
We take the utmost care with your mature dog. Not having to travel to a shop will lower the stress level of your dog. Some older dogs have growths and tumors that need to be gently worked around. We take the time and patience to care for our special older dogs.
What types of shampoos do you use?
Every breed has special skin needs. We use the shampoo that is best for your specific breed. We use biodegradable and healthy shampoos.
Do you ever have to use a muzzle?
If we have the owner’s permission and your dog is alright with it.
What about aggressive dogs?
We can groom, and have experience with aggressive dogs, however, if it becomes evident that your dog just doesn’t want to be groomed and I’m in danger, I will refer your dog to a vet.
Is all the grooming done in the trailer?
Yes, the trailers are fully self-sufficient and equipped with a generator, air-conditioning, heater, bathtub, grooming table and all the necessary equipment to provide a complete grooming service totally within the trailer.
How long does the grooming take?
The average appointment takes about 60 minutes to 90 minutes to complete. This can vary depending on the breed, condition and length of coat, procedure required, temperament of the animal, etc.
What are your prices?
Our prices are based on the breed and size of the animal, the condition of his or her coat, and what the owner requests. Some circumstances in which additional charges may incur are excessive matting, shaving down or stripping, flea dips, tick removal, behavioral issues or extreme obesity.
Do you offer a multiple pet discount?
Yes, along with other discounts. Please ask for further details.
How far in advance do I need to schedule an appointment?
Quite often we can book your appointment within 2-3 days. However, there are times during the year which become very busy and it is recommended to schedule as far as 2 or more weeks ahead.
How often should my pet be groomed?
In general a grooming every 4-6 weeks is recommended. The frequency varies on a per animal basis depending on breed and coat type. It is good for your pet to be groomed and/or bathed before becoming overly dirty or matted.
We will check the anal glands as part of the regular grooming service and will only express them if needed. Animals naturally express these glands during normal everyday functions and they should not be hand manipulated unless necessary as this may cause irritation or infection. If the glands cannot be easily expressed by the groomer, or are swollen, we will recommend the animal be taken to a vet.
Why is shaving down sometimes more expensive than a hair cut?
In many cases the animal is matted, has extremely thick hair, is excessively dirty or has other conditions which make shaving not only more difficult than a haircut, but usually necessary. Stripping, especially a dirty, matted coat, also subjects clippers and blades to unusual wear and tear which can be costly to maintain or replace. In addition, great care and extra time is required in an effort to shave the coat evenly and avoid cutting the skin with the clippers.
My pet has a lot of mats, is it necessary to shave them out?
It depends on the severity of the matting. Minor mats can sometimes be worked out, but many times shaving down or stripping is necessary. Severe mats can cause skin irritations and hide other conditions such as hot spots, dermatitis, seborrhea, cuts, scabs, sores and redness. It is not unusual to encounter these problems when the coat is stripped from a badly matted animal and it is definitely in your pet’s best interest to address them.
